My 2016 Reading List

Books were my first love. Reading is the best kind of escape for me. There is something about the sound of a binding cracking as you open a new book and the crisp feel of the new pages. I HATE this new technology of Ebooks and having books be put on a tablet to read. My husband would love it if I would just read them on a tablet because then I would have to have so many bookshelves but that is never going to happen!

I love my son to bits, however I have deeply neglected my love of reading and books since giving birth. I used to read at least four books a month but since having Maverix I have only read one! I'm not going to set some outrageous goal of how many books I want to read in 2016. However there are just a few that I want to read and have yet to do so or they are not yet out! Check out the list and let me know what books your excited to read this year!

 - Disclaimer: don't judge! These books are definitely not the most intellectual novels. Cheesy love stores may or may not be my guilty pleasure!

1) The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith

I'm super excited to read this book, although it has been out for three years - I've been severely lacking. Who doesn't want to read a cute love story about a boy and a girl in an airport! Not to mention the lead male character is British - that just make it even better. I personally love books that happen within a 24-hour time period because it makes you want to read the book in one sitting! The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith is by far one of the books i'm most excited about reading this year!

2) Three Little Words by Ashley Rhodes-Courter

Three Little Words by Ashley Rhodes-Courter.jpg

I don't know why I JUST heard about this novel but it has been out since 2008! I have been missing out! I love reading memoirs and this one is heart wrenching. It tells the story of a young girl and her life through foster care and her dwindling relationship with her mother. I love the true stories about how people overcome the worst and are determined to win in life! Three Little Words: a Memoir Book by Ashley Rhodes-Courter is bound to be a good read!

3) Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them by J.K. Rowling

I don't even think this needs an explanation - like come on! First of all, it is by J.K. Rowling and second it is from the world of Harry Potter!!! I'm a huge Harry Potter Fan and anything to do with the franchise I'm all about! I'm also super excited to see the movie which is out this year! Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them by J.K. Rowling is bound to be an amazing book!

4) Love May Fail by Matthew Quick

I'm a sucker for any book by Matthew Quick so Love May Fail should be amazing! I love a classic love story of a scorned women who returns home and finds herself. I think this one may result in tears...but that makes the book even better!

5) The Silent Wife by A.S.A. Harrison

This novel reminds me so much of Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. A novel about a wife and husband whose marriage is on the brink of disaster. I feel like The Silent Wife by A.S.A. Harrison  will have me on my toes from the first page - just the way I like to read! The author was a Canadian writer (which makes me want to read it even more) who passed away from cancer in 2013.

6) Rich and Pretty by Rumaan Alam

This novel is set to debut in June 2016. I think that many women my age will relate to this book including myself. It is a story about two best friends, who have grown up together, enter their adult lives and have to figure out where their friendship lies. I think I will defiantly relate to this especially as I grow older and build my family. I cannot wait for Rich and Pretty by Rumaan Alam to come out - in fact I have already preordered it!

7) This is Where It Ends by Marieke Nijkamp

I am somewhat nervous to read this novel because it is about a very serious topic that hits home with just about everyone in the world. This is Where it Ends by Marieke Nijkamp is told from four different perspective and is a story about a school shooting. I hope I can get through this novel and give the author the respect they deserve for writing such a heart wrenching book.

8) Love that Split the World by Emily Henry

As soon as I read the description of this book I knew I would want to read it! First of all it mentions Friday Night Lights (Best movie and TV series ever)! Second it seems like a cute read about the bittersweet moments of life after high school. I am a sucker for moments like this! The Love That Solit the World by Emily Henry is out this month and I cannot wait to get my hands on it!

9) Eligible: A Modern Retelling of Pride and Prejudice by Curtis Sittenfeld

Anything that has to do with the classic Pride and Prejudice I'm all for! I love that classic novel and I try to read any type of novel that comes out that is retelling of it! This version of the classic is set in New York City which makes it even more exciting! I love NYC and everything to do with it! This novel comes out April 19th and it is definitely going on my preorder list!

10) America's Frist Daughter by Stephanie Dray & Laura Kamoie

This novel is not really my usual style of writing, however it seems very interesting and really got my attention. America's Frist Daughter by Stephanie Dray & Laura Kamoie is about Thomas Jefferson's eldest daughter Martha Jefferson Randolph. Set to release in March 2016, it is the untold story of Martha's life as the daughter of the President of the United States. Hopefully I am not disappointed!

11) The Year We Fell Apart by Emily Martin

I am a huge fan of the author Sarah Dessen so when someone tells me that a new novelist has the essence of her then I am all for reading their novels as well. The Year We Fell Apart by Emily Martin is the authors debut novel and is set to release this month! This novel tells the story of two best friends who are torn apart but brought back together in their time of need and of course - love! What can I say, I love a good love story!

12) We Were Liars by E. Lockhart

I love a good story about the upper class and their secrets! We Were Liars by E. Lockhart  has everything I need in one book - summer, lies, true love, friendship and secrets... all wrapped up with suspense and thrill! Super excited to relax and read this one!

13) Wildflower by Drew Barrymore

I love everything Drew Barrymore! I think that she is not only an amazing actress but human being in general! When I heard about Wildflower by Drew Barrymore coming out I could not wait to read it. Drew Barrymore shares with readers stories about her life that I'm sure are not only hilarious but also profound and moving. I can't wait to take a trip down memory lane with Drew.

So there you have it - my reading list of 2016! I'll keep you updated throughout the year on each book and how much I loved it because no doubt I will! Let me know if you have read or are planning on reading any of these books and what you think! Also if you have any other suggestions that I should add to the list!
