Individualized Cinnamon Pear Crisp

Being married to a baker and having your in-laws own a bakery doesn’t allow you much wiggle room when it comes to baking things at home. My husband recently just started having an obsession with pears so I took it upon myself to surprise him with a pear crisp for dessert tonight. He loved it!

At home right now its just my husband and I so I did not want to make enough to feed an army. So I individualized the portions and made only enough for two people. If I were to make this for a dinner party or if you have more then just two people in your family you can just double or triple the recipe. Have fun with it!

Start with 3 pears, I choose firmer pears rather then soft to give the crisp some hold. Peel the pears, cut them in half length ways and spoon out the core.  Then dice the pears into small pieces less then an inch big.

Place the diced pears into a bowl and add your sugar, and ½ teaspoon cinnamon. Toss to coat the pears completely.

Now for the topping: combine flour, sugar, brown sugar, the rest of the cinnamon and pecans. (If you choose to add them, I did not).  Melt the butter and throw in with the flour mixture. Mix together until you get big moist crumbs.

Pour the pears into a buttered baking dish, I choose individuals dishes for the two of us. But any baking dish will do, just make it for the size that you need for how many portions your making.

Now sprinkle the topping over the pears. Don’t worry about being even and precise. It’s a crisp it’ll be delicious no matter what!

Pop the dishes into the oven for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes put it on the top rack of the oven for 10 minutes to get that golden brown coloring on top.
