The 12 Days of Christmas Cookies - Red Velvet Sugar Cookies
Day nine of the 12 Days of Christmas Cookies is a Red Velvet Sugar Cookie. If you didn't know already, i'm obsessed with anything Red Velvet. It is the best dessert ever invented! Therefore I obviously had to include it!
Sugar Cookie Directions
In a large bowl cream together butter, vegetable oil, 1 1/2 cups sugar, powdered sugar, water and eggs.
In a separate bowl mix together flour, cocoa power, baking soda, cream of tarter, and salt. Add to butter mixture. Add red food colouring until you have achieved the colour you would like. Chill dough for at least an hour.
Roll dough into golf ball sized balls and place on greased baking sheet 3 inches apart.
Grease the bottom of a tall glass with cooking spray and dip into the remaining sugar. Press the bottom of this glass onto the cookie dough, pressing down until the dough is approximently 1/2 inch thick.
Bake at 350F for 8-10 minutes.
In a large bowl cream together butter, sour cream and cream cheese until smooth.
Add remaining ingredients and mix until smooth.
Frost cookies and refrigerate.
