The 12 Days of Christmas Cookies - Christmas Swirl Sugar Cookie

Day Three of the 12 Days of Christmas Cookies is a delicious and fun Christmas Swirl Sugar Cookie! Start with a traditional sugar cookie and add some food colouring fold it all together and there you go! 


Cream butter and sugar together. Add eggs and vanilla. 

In a separate bowl mix together dry ingredients and add slowly to wet ingredients. 

Separate dough into three equal portions. Add the red food colouring to one section of dough and the green food colouring to another section. Leave the third section of colouring plain. Put all three sections of dough in the fridge to chill. This is important because there is so much butter in the dough, it will make it much easier to roll out. 

Roll out each set of dough onto wax paper until about 1 cm thick and equal shapes. When all three sections of dough are rolled out, decided what color pattern you would like and stack the doughs on top of each other in that order. I chose white, red and then green. Use a pizza cutter and trim the edges so all the sides are even. 

Turn the dough so the long side is facing you and roll it up. Roll the wax paper around it and tuck in the corners to prevent the dough from drying out. Put the roll of dough back in the fridge until hard. I left mine over night and continued in the morning. 

Once the dough is hard take it out of the fridge and cut the dough of in slices. You can choose whatever thickness you like. I did 1 cm slices. 

Roll your cookie edges in sprinkles if you like! I personally think it makes them look much nicer!

Bake the cookies at 350 for 8-10 minutes.
