Valentine's Day Cookies!
I have been wanting to test my skills with royal icing for quite some time now so why not try it out for Valentine's day! I will say I am not the best but practice makes perfect! Try it out for yourself! They taste much better then they look!
I first baked a number of sugar cookies in different size hearts and a fun I Heart You shape! Then I finished them off with pink and white royal icing!
Now to make the royal icing I first made a batch that was thicker using 4 cups of powdered sugar and 3 egg whites. I then made the icing the color that I wanted and separated enough to do the outline. I added water to the remaining icing. I did this two more times with different colors.
Using a piping bag and the thicker royal icing I outlined each cookie and then filled in the remaining cookie with the thinner icing. I added dots of another color on top and dragged a toothpick through the dots to make a heart.
To make the tie-dye cookie I simple added lines of another color of icing to the cookie and dragged a toothpick from top to bottom and then bottom to top.
Thats all! Ta da!!! For my first attempt I think they look pretty darn good! My hubby thinks they are delicious so thats all that matters!
